Our mission is to create resource centers on campus for schools to provide the CORE3 to any student in need.

Food

Hygiene

Supplies

When needs are met immediately…

Teachers

No longer bear the burden.

Students

Get back to learning.

… and everyone feels supported.

“Public schools serve a wide array of students, many of who face daily challenges that may inhibit their ability to feel safe, comfortable, and prepared for learning. The impact of establishing a school food pantry or clothing and supply closet is immeasurable on children in our own district and many others.”

— Keith Bryant, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Texas Region 17 Superintendent of the Year (2019)

How it started

When my boys were young, I learned about an opportunity to serve inside their school. A group of moms had set up a closet full of resources called the “Pirate Pantry.” It had grown from weekend food bags to a daily offering of basic school supplies, snacks, clothing, and hygiene items to students in need.

I was sitting at a PTO meeting when I heard they were looking for someone to coordinate the efforts on the growing Laura Bush Middle School campus.

“Put me down for the next seven years.”

It has been almost nine years now. We’ve got a Pirate Pantry on every campus in our district.

With efficiency and impact in mind, I developed a comprehensive plan for connecting the needs with the community, with student organizations, and with local businesses. This approach takes the pressure off teachers, counselors, and administrators to meet basic needs. Instead, they can focus on teaching and training students for the future.

We provide the fuel.
